The EMD GT46MAC was the first freight dedicated locomotive with AC electric transmission made by General Motors and was classed the 4th generation freight dedicated diesel locomotive of Indian Railways. In the beginning, the original EMD GT46MAC were imported to India but then DLW (Diesel Locomotive Works) started production of the same. The EMD Series 4000HP WDG 4 is capable of operating at maximum speed limit of 105kmph with hauling 58 fully loaded wagons.
