WDM locomotives are known as the workhorse of Indian Railways. Basically it is a diesel-electric locomotive and is based on the original ALCOs (American Locomotive Company) design and technology. These locomotives are also known to be most reliable for hauling both passenger trains & heavy freight cars. WDM 2 is the 2nd generation 2600HP mainline diesel locomotive with a maximum speed limit of 120kmph and is the mostly used class of diesel locomotives in Indian Railways.
